...and totally obsessed with my new toy.
For Mother's Day (and my birthday, and Christmas, and all other gift-giving occasions for the rest of the year) J bought me a Canon Rebel DSLR. It took until today for me to get up the guts to even get it out of the box. But once I did, I had so much fun.
My Mother's Day surprises - J made me a monkey pancake to match the card BB picked out, and there's my SLR all wrapped up.
I am planning to learn about my camera using Pioneer Woman's Photography blog (which I started reading some tutorials on months ago) and a friend recommended Online Photo Resource which has a 28 Days with an SLR tutorial that I am excited to go through.
Part of me wanted to just return the camera as soon as I opened it, as I hate the idea of spending so much money on a camera when I am not a "real" photographer. Well, I hate the idea of spending so much money on anything, really. Especially right before our budget takes a drastic hit with the addition of a new baby and me cutting back at work. But the longer I stared at the box sitting on the media unit shelf, the more I wanted to try the camera out, and today I finally said give. I hope I become a photography expert by the time our littlest man comes out so I can get some great shots of BB and his little brother.
Pregnancy wise:
Leg cramps in the middle of the night are new - never had them with BB.
I feel giant - like I couldn't possibly get any bigger. And there is so much more bigger still to come.
Our littlest continues to be very active, and the last week I feel like he is trying to burst out of my belly with his squirms and kicks. It's fun to actually feel that he is growing.
Appointments are every two weeks now - I couldn't believe it at my last appointment when the doctor told me to come back in 2 weeks. (I stretched it out to 3 weeks though, because really, I don't need to be there that often yet.....I think this illustrates why they say that nurses (and doctors) make the worst patients).
Office-clean-out and dresser-to-be-linen-closet refinishing are still in progress.
BB climbed/fell out of his crib last week by stacking two of his pillow pets (yes, he has TWO) and using them to raise himself up - we think he was trying to grab his changing table to knock it off like he had that morning. J had moved the changing table farther away from the crib, and we think BB reached for it and ended up falling out. He was totally fine, and we are looking at it as another step towards the big boy bed. Other BB updates are that he peed in the potty for the first time on Mother's Day, he is forming complete, 3-word sentences like "BB threw cup", we read Cat in the Hat at least once a day, and he is standing in time out on his own (without us holding him there like we had been doing). Such a big boy. (Almost two!)
*Note: the photo in this post was taken with my point-and-shoot and I didn't adjust my ISO - sorry about the graininess! (Do I sound like a real photographer? :) )
LOVE my Rebel DSLR. I'm sure you will as well...
ReplyDeleteSister, for those nasty legs cramps that attack all day and then sneak attack at night, point your toes. That's all it takes, it's amazing. I had nasty NASTY leg cramps both pregnancies the first incident caused me to scream out in pain and resulted in my Dad running to my rescue in his undies and my Sister bursting into the room ready to deliver a baby. Just remember, point those toes.
